Kay’s Reapings: Commissary (6/18)

Posted on: 06/18/2010

So I think I went a bit extreme this month. Due to this and that and the other, I haven’t been doing too much stockpiling since March. Even without going out to shop much, we were still seeding so the garage shelves, freezers, etc., have been experiencing some rather bare spots. So I came to the conclusion that I would combine this months FULL grocery budget ($145) with the previous two months’ left overs (just decided to take another even $145) to bring my total budget for the three days to $290. My plan is to spend the entire $290…thus far, between yesterday and today I’m at $593.22 and paid $262.75 OOP. This leaves me with $27.25 to spend over the course of the next few days at Publix to either replenish or add to some of the can goods and paper products (tissue/paper towels).

We’ve brought in soooo much groceries that there wasn’t room enough to place it all, so I just took random pictures of some of the items as we were attempting to store them in their appropriate locations….take a look:

We’re praying for Hubby’s safe return home in the near future and wanted to begin grabbing items that he would also enjoy, hence all of the Porterhouse, T-Bone, & Ribeye Steaks & Ribs. We enjoy having date night each week, after putting the children to bed. Items such as these are often on our in-home “restaurant” menu!

Total # of items (not all are pictured): 344
Total # of coupons: 228

I did stop by Wal-Mart for 25 of the above numbered items:

(14) Pampers Wipes
(9) Dentyne Pure Gum, Single Pack
(2) Half Gallon Ice Cream

Paid $5.76 OOP (this amount was added to the numbers above)

I think this post was a great one. It shows others that using coupons doesn’t mean your full grocery budget can’t be used. Sometimes other things come up in our already busy lives and that means stockpiling might get put on the back burner. Which is okay because even having a grocery budget is a wonderful blessing. You know I will be calling you to find out what q’s you used at the commissary đŸ™‚

Hello Kay,

Please tell me how you managed to get the 25 items from Walmart for less than $6.00. I’ve got a brand new granddaughter, and a 2nd one on the way…this would help me out tremendously!

Greetings Claudia,

The Pampers Wipes on are Rollback for $1.97ea., tubs and soft packs, of which each is over 60ct.

Within the recent 5/2P&G there was a $2/1 Pampers Wipes, 60ct or larger, coupon. Using this coupon not only allows you to reap the wipes for FREE but also allows the remaining $0.03 to either go towards your tax or anything else that is on your transaction. Additionally, the Dentyne Pure Gum is priced at $0.96ea. The recent $1/1 Dentyne Pure Gum, single pack also makes these FREE plus overage. My total came to $3 and some change…the rest was tax.

This is a great haul and shows that planning to save really is important. I also love the overage at WM and in the commissary. The pampers wipes are a great bargin, now is the time to buy the coupons off ebay and stock up.
