Kay’s Reapings: Bi-Lo (9/11)

Posted on: 09/11/2010

We decided to have a McFadden Challenge today…set up obstacles in the backyard and all. Well, we took a break after Hubby was finished setting up everything to run to the stores to work a deal for the hotdogs and things for the movie night meal.

So here I was, in the store, with a bandana on my head…didn’t have my obstacle clothes on yet, but this was bad enough 😉 Now, wouldn’t you know I ran into a new reader at the second store looking like that! When I shared the news with Hubby he was like, “Now this person is going to have an image of you burnt into their thoughts of you in the store with a bandana on!” So, if you’re reading this Margaret #2, I apologize ;)!

With that being said, there are some good deals at Bi-Lo this week. I meant to have the Dollars Deals posted by now so will work on getting better with timing my schedule to have these deals up in a manner in which others can go out and reap some goodies.

Here’s what we reaped:

Store 1: (Bi-Lo Bacon Bridge Rd.)

(10) Mueller’s Pasta, BOGO, $0.79
-used (2) $2/5 Mueller’s Pasta (PRINT)
makes them FREE plus $0.10 overage

(2) X-14 Mildew Remover Cleaner, Bonus Buy, $1.99 (reg. price $2.99ea.)
-used (2) X-14 Cleaning Products, 8/22SS
makes them $0.99ea.

(24) X-14 Toilet Bowl Cleaner, BOGO, $1.43 (*I went into the store thinking that they were BOGO at $1.99)
-used (24) $1/1 X-14 Cleaning Product, any. – 07-25-10SS
makes them FREE plus $0.57 overage for each two (2) (*required manager override after a certain amount of coupons were scanned)

(2) Jumbo Frank, Bun Length, BOGO, $2.98
no coupons

(2) Carolina Pride Bologna, Thick Sliced, 5/$5 ($1ea.)

Sub-total Before Savings: $55.75
Your Savings: $55.56
Sub-total After Savings: $0.19
Tax Paid: $1.51
Total OOP: $1.70

Store 2: (Dorchester/Trolley Rd.)

-used (20) $1/1 X-14 Cleaning Product, any. – 07-25-10SS
makes them FREE plus $0.57 overage for each two (2) (*required manager override after a certain amount of coupons were scanned)

(2) Hot Dog Buns, $1.25ea.
no coupons

(2) Clorox Bleach, $1.98
-used $0.25/1 Clorox Brand Bleach any 82 oz or larger – 08-22-10 SS
makes them $1.48

no coupons

Sub-total Before Savings: $44.21
Your Savings: $44.65
Sub-total After Savings: -$0.44
Tax Paid: $1.51
Total OOP: $1.70

**Remember, you are NEVER allowed money back at Bi-Lo, so getting other items to eat up the overage is always the best route or using other coupons. Had I used the $0.55/1 coupons they would have only doubled to make them FREE, NOT free plus overage.

Hey,
This is Margaret from store #2. It was a pleasure to meet you today, especially after just learing about you and your blog on Friday from someone else. I’ve been telling everyone that I meet you! My husband says I’m acting as if I meet someone famous! I told him well she is..lol. Thank you so much for the X-14 coupons. I want to purchase coupons, but I’ve been leary about it. I am just having a hard time with paying for a coupon. And would I spend too much money on coupons and not save enough? IDK But I am so glad that I meet you today, I can’t wait to tell everyone how GREAT my Saturday was. You have helped change my life and actually given me something to do in my spare time. Althought my husband wasn’t sure what we are going to do with 20 boxes of pasta, I quickly reassured him that he would be eating good! Well I am babbling…Again it was Great to meet you in person! Hope we can do it again some time.

Hiya Margaret!

Indeed, it was a pleasure meeting you on today! Now both of us have a story to tell in which our Husband’s think there’s something wrong with us ;)! You’re quite welcome for the coupons. My favorite reasoning for stocking up on pastas is that the time between purchasing & the expiration dates are significant. When we want pasta for dinner, we hit up the stockpile and grab a couple of boxes we purchased for FREE with coupons, as opposed to running to the store & getting them with a coupon when they’re not on sale. It all goes back to the principles of super-couponing…buying at the lowest price possible & stockpiling. Shopping in this manner greatly reduces your OOP (out-of-pocket) expenses!

Here’s one of my rule of thumbs, when ordering coupons. I NEVER pay for coupons…instead, I compensate the individuals for their time and efforts in making them available for me in larger quantities, as I shop for four (4) households, including my own. If I see a person listing a coupon for a ridiculous price versus some of the other places I order coupons for, I immediately leave their site, and order from the other person, because to me, there should not be a significant difference in costs for the same coupons. More than likely, the person with the much higher price set is then selling the coupon itself (which is considered fraudulent) not their time and services.

Even when shopping for just our little ones, it was getting rather costly for purchasing a significant amount of newspapers each week. So I went on a hunt for getting ONLY the coupons we needed, as opposed to having stacks of coupons expiring in the inserts that were sitting in a corner of my dining room.

A recommended “bulk” coupon clipping service is Kuntry Klippers. They have the coupons in sets of 20, with the majority of them being $1 a set. For those not needing as many coupons, the Coupon Clippers & Coupon Dede would be their best options.

Trust me, I can babble all night on this subject as it’s been a huge blessing to my family and I aim to serve others with the knowledge in which we’ve gained.

Continued blessings & prosperity!

Reaping In Abundance,
Kay

Hello and welcome! I am a military spouse & mom of four boys and two girls, ages 1 to 10, oldest diagnosed with autism. We're located in the Charleston, SC area. My family and my faith are very important to me. Since I've started using coupons I have been able to save more money and become a better steward of my household. I hope to seed into the general public, and our military families, how to spend less and get more.

Get ready to take your grocery & household spending to a whole new level! Couponing is not only a means to seed but an avenue to harvest...both opportunities are endless & a joy to delight in.

I welcome feedback and comments! Thank you again!
