Military Couponers: Commissary Good Buys

Posted on: 09/13/2010

I must begin by apologizing to our Military Couponers. I’m waiting to hear back from DeCA’s Legal Office on the correct way to post the Commissary Bi-Weekly Deals. Although I don’t post the actual prices of the sales items, I like to alert fellow shoppers when an item is below a certain price to assist, not only assist with noting additional savings through the use of coupons, but to also help those families, who are in situations that mirrored my own families’ prior to couponing…on a strict budget because, regardless of how long the military member remains at work, there’s no overtime pay. In an effort to still provide some sort of guidance and support while I wait I feel led to at least share some good deals I note during my own personal trips.

On yesterday, I visited quite a few stores (Wal-Mart, Publix (2), Commissary) before I decided to return home. Although I still had Bi-Lo, Rite-Aid, & Piggly Wiggly on my list, I knew my crew was missing me at the homestead, so I’ll finish up the other stops today.

There were some 15.3oz Hungry Jack Mashed Potatoes flakes coupons going a week ago or so.. $1/1. At my commissary out here in Hawaii, the same potatoes were on sale for a cool $1! So That meant I got 2 boxes for *free*!

Greetings Abby!

That was one of the days that I missed the Redplum Dash for Deals day, which was where the coupon was available at. Awesome deal…we use almost entire box when preparing Mashed Potatoes at our house, so this would have been great. Thanks so much for sharing!

Hello and welcome! I am a military spouse & mom of four boys and two girls, ages 1 to 10, oldest diagnosed with autism. We're located in the Charleston, SC area. My family and my faith are very important to me. Since I've started using coupons I have been able to save more money and become a better steward of my household. I hope to seed into the general public, and our military families, how to spend less and get more.

Get ready to take your grocery & household spending to a whole new level! Couponing is not only a means to seed but an avenue to harvest...both opportunities are endless & a joy to delight in.

I welcome feedback and comments! Thank you again!
