Commissaries.com: Special Orders
Commissary Coupon Policy
Current Sales: Kraft Brands, Sales Flyers, Commissaries.com (for price list)

Like many other stores, the Commissary allows one to place Special Orders for products in which they already carry in the store, and items in which another Commissary carry. This is a great way to get the items in which your family needs in larger quantities, while avoiding clearing the shelves from shoppers who are only interested in maybe 1-2 of the same items.

What information is needed?

When placing a special order you will need to have the item’s UPC number, quantity of items in each case, the price and description of the item. ALL of this information can be found on the price stickers located beneath the products on the shelf.

Special Orders at the Commissary vs Traditional Grocery Stores

A HUGE difference with requesting Special Orders at the Commissary versus a traditional grocery store is that if there’s a price change prior to your order coming in, you are required to pay the newer price, whether it’s lower or higher than the original price.

I was informed by our store’s manager that prices change on the 1st and the 15th of each month. Orders can be placed as early as that same day if you make the request prior to the systems closing down for the business day. If not, they would be sent in that next day.

When will I receive my order:

This is, in part, up to you and when you place your order. If you’re trying to receive it while it’s on sale, it’s best to order as soon as you know you’re interested in purchasing a significant amount to avoid a price change, that could, most likely lead into you paying higher than you anticiapted. My manager asked me when I would like to receive it and I told him, “As soon as possible”. With that, he placed the order right then.

My order was placed late Tuesday afternoon and I received the call early Thursday morning stating that it was available for pick up! Much faster than I expected but great turnaround as I was able to get them for the sale price before it changed after the 30th.

Note: Although all Commissary departments accept Special Orders there are some guidelines in which you need to be aware of, such as, shoppers overseas cannot place Special Orders for items carried stateside. For more information on this check out the Commissaries.com: Special Order section.

Now, on the other hand, I recently placed a Special Order at one of our local Publix stores. In addition to receiving a copy of my special order request form, I was also given a “rain-check” for the price of the items at that time. Had I failed to get this very important paper, I would have been paying an additional $4.49 for this item at it’s regular price!

Now here’s my story:

I was all excited on Tuesday afternoon after successfully completing my first Commissary Special Order. I don’t think that I would have gone through with it had the items would have been on the shelf whenever I visited. The Gain Fabric Softener Sheets and 40ld. Liquid bottles are still on sale and less the coupons they are less than $1ea.

I decided to grab a few things while I was in the store prior to requesting my order brought up to the front. I make no exaggeration when I say, as soon as the young man “parked” the cart containing the products next to me that the entire area filled up with the wonderful, original scent of Gain! Some powerful stuff!

Now in all the excited I failed to realized that some of my coupons weren’t handed over to the cashier. You would think that I would learn by now to triple check these kind of things but, again, I was caught up in the moment. So after having the coupons that I did hand over scanned I began feeling as though something was a bit off as I was expecting the total to be much lower than what it was, even with the additional items I purchased.

Hint: Whenever you experience this feeling explore it! Ensure ALL of you coupons are in their proper place, items scanned properly,

Even after KNOWING my total should have been less, again, I did not follow through as I normally would by checking my receipt because I was distracted speaking with some of the individuals in and outside of the store. I did notice that there was one of the Gain coupons laying right at the top of my purse where I had laid them to grab the items out of the cart, but figured that it was just that one (1) and didn’t dig into the “problem” and further because at this time I was amazed at how quickly the vehicle had transformed into a Gain haven!

…deep, sighing…so this morning after dropping the children off at school and returning to my driveway, where I sit, at times, to think on what else I need to take care of during the day, I decided to return the loose coupons that were in my purse back to their appropriate locations and oh my goodness I thought I was going to faint. Ya’ll not only was there the one Gain coupon that I mentioned early BUT 14 MORE of them on the inside wall of my purse…that’s $15 dollars worth of coupons I failed to hand over! 😦

So here’s my question, do I return with my receipt and request the exchange for the funds since I well-intended to use those coupons and the receipt clearly shows that I only used 25 of the 40 I had. Or do I go to purchase 15 additional products since that deal is such a great one…can never hurt to have extra Fabric Softener and Dryer Sheets.

Penny The penny item for TODAY ONLY (Wed., 9/22 or Thurs. 9/23) is:

Publix 2L Soda -thanks Michelle

The coupon will not be located within the Sunday’s ad, but within the Wednesday newspaper. FL does not participate in this promotion.

For those shopping at the Dorchester Rd. store, these coupons are provided at the register for those meeting the qualifications.

Thanks, as always, to Michelle at I Heart Publix, for seeding into our lives through the usage of the matchups. Please visit her for the remaining of the sale’s ad.

For those of you that are military families, you’ll be happy to see that we’ve also included commissary coupons, when available. Unfortunately, our local Publix stores are beginning to view military coupons as manufacturer coupons because they scan as such. Still great to see what’s available. And now you can stack a military coupon with a competitor coupon, so all is not lost.

Just getting started? Check out the Getting Started Guide

Our sales week are from Wednesday-Tuesday

Here are the Rules:
* You DO NOT have to buy two items to receive the B1G1 price
* Publix (Oakbrook/Dorchester Rd) is no longer stacking their store coupon along with a manufacturer, and a competitor coupon. You will only be allowed to use a maximum of TWO coupons on ONE item, as long one is a manufacturer.

*Per Store Manager (Oakbrook) the penny item is ONE per customer NOT one per transaction. Therefore, if you are doing more than one transaction in a single trip, on Sundays & Mondays, please only grab the penny item once.

(Coupons listed in GREEN are referring to coupons in which military families have access to and CAN use.)

For a few extra savings, here are some current $X/$XX coupons:
$5/$25 Rite Aid (exp. 9/30)

If there are things that you would like to stock up get to ordering your coupons now.
