While waiting at the bank yesterday, I was listening to WJNI 106.3 (our local Gospel radio station). During the broadcast Brian Seabrook was speaking with two individuals, Rosalyn and Peter, who are seeking donations for the families in Haiti. Peter is a native of Haiti and called out to the fellow nation in his native tongue for donations! He works as a Longshoremen and still has family members residing there.

Peter and Ms. Rosalyn will be leaving for Haiti on the 13th of February and donations of feminine care products, hygiene products, baby care items (diapers, wipes, and food), unused wheelchairs, crutches, tylenol, medical supplies, toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc., are being requested. Clothing items, at this time, are not being requested as much with the families being unable to carry them around. Donations are going out on a C-17, so there is more than enough room.

What I know so far:

Donations will be at the ILA Longshoremen Association (Downtown, Morrison Dr.) received from 11am- 6pm, Sat., 1/30
POCs: Rosalyn (843.452.1852), Peter (843.442.7139), Brian Seabrook, WJNI 106.3 (843.308.9564)

I mentioned to my 9- year old daughter who was in the ride with me that I really want to donate some things because God has really blessed us through the use of coupons in the past 8 months to the point where we can to bless others. She stated that she felt as if God knew what was going to happen and that is why He blessed us with knowing how to coupon so that we could be ready to help these families.

With that being said, here’s what I propose:

Couponing for Haiti

For the remaining of the week we could all use the power of coupons to help sow some seeds. There are many that feel as though they are unable to help because they do not possess an excess of funds. PLEASE do not allow that to hinder this move. I will list some items that I am aware of that are FREE or close to FREE at our local stores from coupons out of the Sunday papers or located within the stores themselves!

For example:

Publix (-thanks Michelle)
Mennen Speed Stick Deodorant or Anti-Perspirant, 2.7 to 3.25 oz pkg or Lady Speed Stick, 2.25 or 2.3 oz pk, Assorted Varieties, (Excluding Mennen Speed Stick 24/7 or Pro) BOGO $2.49
-$1/1 Speed Stick, Lady Speed Stick or Teen Spirit Antiperspirant/Deodorant, any except trial size Peelie
$0.50/1 Lady Speed Stick or Teen Spirit (MF Military Q) -tearpad
$0.50/1 Speed Stick Antipersiprant/Deodorant (MF Military Q) -tearpad

makes them $0.49 for TWO

Dollar General (-thanks Catrina)
CareFree Pantyliners, reg. price, $1ea.
-$1/1 CareFree product (coupon within store coupon flyer) -exp. 1/30
makes them FREE

Reach Dental Floss
-use $1/1 (1/3RP)makes them FREE plus overage

Marcal Facial Tissue
-FREE or $1/1 (12/13SS, 1/3SS)makes them FREE plus overage

I know there are many, many more items out there, but I wanted to simply list a couple as an example while I compile a list. If you are aware of any great deals, please list them in the comments section and I’ll add them to the list.

If you are unable to assist in the couponing efforts, your service would still be much appreciated by volunteering your time. Seafood dinners will also be sold at the event and any donations of seafood or paper products/plastic wares would also be great. Please contact Ms. Rosalyn at the number above for more details.

I need your help to spread the word…send out e-mails, tweet, blog, facebook, text…whatever means of communication is available!

Thanks for all your support!

Hello and welcome! I am a military spouse & mom of four boys and two girls, ages 1 to 10, oldest diagnosed with autism. We're located in the Charleston, SC area. My family and my faith are very important to me. Since I've started using coupons I have been able to save more money and become a better steward of my household. I hope to seed into the general public, and our military families, how to spend less and get more.

Get ready to take your grocery & household spending to a whole new level! Couponing is not only a means to seed but an avenue to harvest...both opportunities are endless & a joy to delight in.

I welcome feedback and comments! Thank you again!
